| HOW DID EVERYTHING BEGIN? In the summer of 1997. the idea to present our home town Pancevo to the whole world through the Internet, started. A small, but special group gathered: Jugoslav Beljin, Aleksandar Stojkovic, Zoran Jakovljevic and Jovan Timotijevic. After we had recognized all the possibilities and restrictions that had been imposed to us, all our constructive ideas were transformed into a project named "Pancevo @ Internet". That project, as an authentic work of a group of authors was protected by copyright at the "Yugoslav Authors Agency" (YAA). The project and the pilot version of the presentation was presented to the responsable people of the Community Assembly. Unfortunately, it appeared that (at that moment) the mutual interest for both the officials on one side, and us, authors on the other, could not be found. We decided to "let the presentation on the air", after all , thanks to the Internet provider agency "PAnet", from Pancevo. The presentation of Pancevo has been available to the whole world since September 5th, 1997. We organized a public presentation in the Galery of Contemporary Art in Pancevo, which was attended by a great number of people, and it took place thanks to several companies from Pancevo: "PIK Tamis", "PAnet Agency" (Internet provider) and "NB Hardware" (computer service and production), as well as the Culture Center in Pancevo.
AND NOW In the meantime, we’ve decided to promote the presentation by ourselves, we have developed a new and more detailed story about our town and placed it on the server which provides a very fast access from any part of the world (3 MB/s). Thanks to cooperation with some of the organizations and eminent companies from our town, the presentation of Pancevo exists and has been broadening permanently. Your (almost all positive) opinions about our work make us even more enthusiastic to persist with our plan. The idea is to form an editorial in the near future, that will maintain the presentation (daily), with the special accent on art, culture and current events. The aim is to form a town service which will fulfill and upgrade current mediums-newspapers, radio and television. Of course, accomplishment of such an ambitious project requires much more than a good will (which doesn’t lack). We invite everyone who’s interested in cooperation with us to contact us. All your suggestions, advises or comments are welcome. AUTHORS: Jugoslav Beljin and Jovan Timotijevic are working on project developing, at the moment. For many years, we’ve been mainly occupied with programming, CAD and data basis, as well as computer design and lately-with Internet editing. We are students at the University of Belgrade (the Faculty of Civil Engineering-geodesy, and the Faculty of Mathematics -computer science).
